One of the best inspirational horse clips ever...

I don't think I've ever posted this one here. If you haven't seen this before, watch it now. Extremely inspiring! If you have seen it, you'll be happy you watched it again. There are so many things I could say about it, but I'll just say that I hardly breathe when I watch it. And I love the pinto foal at the end!

The "Puppy"

Spring is such a fun season, but it is always so very busy, too. I still need to get the rest of the MiG updates posted, and several other posts that I've been planning. For now, here is a little introduction of one of our dogs, Kippy. I don't think I've featured our nonhorsey pets much at all, but I thought this one was a cute photo of her jumping. Kippy is somewhat athletic... Otherwise known as hyper. The digital camera has a pathetically slow capture speed, so, even trying to hold her still this was the best picture I could get of her head!

She is a super sweet and rather ditzy dog. If she were a bird she'd be a magpie - "Oh! Something shiny!" :-D

Ancient Words video

Wow. This is one of those songs that has good words, but never gets me all that excited when singing it. But this video put things together in my head in an amazing way - very moving, somehow....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GVfs4qLISw&feature=related

Lyrics:
"Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart.
Oh let the ancient words impart

Words of Life, words of Hope
Give us strength, help us cope
In this world, where e'er we roam
Ancient words will guide us Home.

CHORUS: Ancient words ever true
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts
Oh let the ancient words impart"

etc.

Let me know if you like it!

It wants to get you

This post is about a monster. The monster is lurking somewhere nearby, and it's waiting to get you. It will hypnotize you and suck the life from you, until you are a zombie and cannot think clearly...

Forewarned is forearmed! Beware of the monster, and click here to find out what it is!

(Yes, this is a very tongue-in-cheek post, but I honestly do hate how much human potential goes down the drain every day due to "the monster." I keep thinking about it today, so here are my thoughts...)

William Tell Overture "Mom Song!"

This is hysterically funny - and it is more understandable to the "non-horse savvy people" here, (N!) so enjoy!

Click to watch the "Mom Song." :-D

6 Years Ago Today

I was thinking about this day and what happened 6 years ago and how it changed me in so many ways. I think this video might be the best memorial video I've seen yet.
I cannot say anything in remembrance that has not been said already. So I will just say that reflecting on that day reminded me that although we saw face-to-face the incredible evil humans are capable of that day, we also saw incredible beauty in the courage, love, unity, sacrifice, and utter selflessness so many people that day displayed that day...

These summer days

What a quick summer this has been. I am quite glad we only had 1 week of 115 degree weather, and by comparison the rest has been pretty bearable. So much has happened, but I am finally recovering from the "dizziness induced by all the business" ;-D

Mira is getting fat and sassy. I have to say, I have not been able to ride her for over a month, as her arthritis really seemed to be bothering her. Whenever anyone would get on, (no matter how light) she would be mostly fine on the small flat area we have for warming up, but as soon as we got out on the hilly road she was obviously uncomfortable. I actually spent several weeks trying to adjust and modify tack, the routine, time of day, etc., before I realized that she really just wasn't feeling quite up to it. I am not going to say she is permanently retired, because it's always possible that with winter she might get really frisky again and be fine with being ridden, (who knows?) but I doubt it...

It is kind of weird, because I actually have not had a hard time adjusting to this, and I thought I would be much more upset. I am just glad we got several extra months, after thinking she was retired this spring. I'll just keep taking her for walks and doing fun stuff as I get time, and do my best to keep her from getting too pudgy! I suppose it also helps me not to freak out since I know this is a more natural thing, and NOT something caused by me, and NOT an accident. Every time I groom her she enjoys it, but I can never seem to get a pain/stiffness reaction when I gently probe her back or other spots. She is totally happy in the pasture, with just the slightest occasional shortening of stride on the left hind, and undoubtedly she likes having her only job being the arduous one of "Spoiled Pasture Ornament."

On another note, Mira still prances with her gorgeous floating trot every time she gets to go past other horse pastures. So I liked these 2 videos about a Polish Arab stallion named Piaff. MiKael probably recognizes the name... and from what I've seen of your horses in pictures, I bet they look like this when they're showing off, MiKael! Talk about gorgeous... drool! :-D

Happy 4th of July!

Here is a beautiful video of a performance of the National Anthem. Enjoy!

This is a short post because I am going swimming now - yay! It was a mere 110 degrees this afternoon, so a little swim might be nice... :-)

Enjoy your picnics and barbecues, and remember what the day is about. Happy 231st Birthday, America!!!

Paul Potts and a thought about Heaven

Wow. I just finished watching 2 incredible videos of Paul Potts, a contestant on Britain's Got Talent. He is a very ordinary looking man who got on stage and WOWED Simon Cowell, the judges, and everybody else in the world. Opera fame, here he comes!

Go here and watch the first one, RIGHT NOW, and then watch this one immediately after. Do it!

Such a wonderful thing to happen to this guy!!!

The reason for this post, however, is that the last couple days I have been really arguing with God about something, and it's been kind of exhausting. It was completely my fault, because I was trying to do something He didn't want, and I was basically stomping my foot about it. Anyway, He did finally get through today, and right after that I saw this video the first time. After watching both several times, I suddenly realized something.

Everyone in audience, the judges, all the people who have watched this video, we are all cheering for this guy. We are SO glad he is getting all this praise and fame and recognition! It warms our hearts...

Then, I started to imagine:

It is Heaven's gateway. The scene about to take place is the arrival of yet another believer, finally Home, safe now, forever. Gathered around in eager anticipation are family members, friends, and the Holy One.

Suddenly, through the gate, escorted by angels, she comes! Her face is astonished, and her eyes widen as she starts to see the splendor and magnificence of Heaven's outer edges. The crowd bursts into excited cheers and applause, jumping up and down, calling her name, crying "Finally! We've been waiting SOO long for this day! And you have too, even though you didn't realize how much you were longing for this!"

Now she looks shy, overwhelmed. She thinks "What? Is everyone cheering for ME? Why? I worked hard on Earth, I did my best to love Jesus with everything in me, but still... This is totally awesome! It is so cool how everyone is so excited with me!"

Then, everyone's eyes are drawn to a tall figure as Jesus steps forward. She falls on her knees, overcome by joy. Weeping, she looks up into His face as He bends over and pull her into an embrace. She cannot bear the Love in His eyes - she never dreamed how much He loved her! He whispers, "Welcome home, good and faithful servant. Share in the joy I have been preparing for you from ages past! At last, I can start to show you all the good things I have in store, and at last I can tell you the reasons for so many things you wondered about below! Finally, I can give you your reward!"

Sometimes an emotion on Earth, like rooting for the underdog, or cheering for the victor, will give me a little picture of what Heaven will be like when I get there...

Kentucky Derby 2007

I really enjoyed the Derby this year. It was a bit odd though, because this year I didn't know enough about the horses to pick a favorite, which is definitely unusual. I always have a favorite, and, my favorite always loses! So this year I just watched and waited to see who would win. This Derby was one of the more exciting ones for sure! Street Sense, the favorite, ended up 19th out of 20 horses at one point in the race. At that point I kinda wrote him off, and focused on the others. But, then he came from the back and WON!!! I love stories like that. :-) And of course, now I'm going to be rooting for Street Sense in the Preakness!

It was really touching also to see how totally excited the jockey was to achieve his dream. And even better to see how well loved he is at the track- you could tell by how happy everyone else was for him.

Here's a video of the race...

All in all, a fun race. Only a couple weeks now 'till the Preakness! Will this be the year for a Triple Crown Winner?

New video with unreleased song!

This is cool - my favorite musician, Todd Agnew, is coming out with a new CD called "Better Questions" this July, and here is a preview video with one of the songs! The video includes clips of the photo shoot for the new CD.

http://dabble.com/node/10391839

(It's amazing, isn't it - a NON horsey topic today! ;-D Er, except I just realized that's not quite true... dogs and fishes and donkeys aren't exactly horse-related though, right?!? Anyway, just go watch it!)

Talk About Goofy!!!

This is just too, too silly. Be careful, don't drink anything while you watch it!

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SmgLtg1Izw

(Sorry, don't know how to embed videos on this page yet)

These people sure have a great marketing team, don't they? But ouch, the number of cliches they managed to squeeze in to one little video...

Have a fabulous weekend all!
